Our Trolling leaders are built with the highest quality components available. We consider our products to be the best in class.  Here’s why. Our snaps and ball bearing swivels are the best that money can buy courtesy of String Ease. Our fluorocarbon line is best in class from Ande. Our trolling leaders are double crimped on each end and the tip of the leader line heated and molded to ensure a slip or pull through is impossible. And finally we have a custom loop protector on each end to further increase longevity of the leader and abrasion resistance. We make a wide variety of lengths to meet the needs of every possible situation.  You might ask why so many length options.  Different leader lengths serve various purposes when casting or trolling for muskies.

Trolling: Longer Leaders (24-72”)

1. Shock Absorption- Longer leaders help absorb the impact of sudden strikes at high trolling speeds.

2. Abrasive Protection-Trolling often exposes lines to sharp muskies teeth, rocks, and debris, so a longer leader offers extra security.

3. Clearer Presentation- A longer leader keeps the main fishing line farther from the lure, reducing the chance of spooking fish, especially in clear water.

4. Depth Control- Longer fluorocarbon leaders can subtly affect lure depth and action.

Clear water = Longer fluorocarbon leaders (less visible)

Stained/murky water = Shorter leaders (visibility isn’t an issue)

 Fish Behavior:

Aggressive muskies = Shorter, more durable leaders

Finicky muskies = Longer, stealthier leaders

Trolling Recommendations

Crankbaits (Depth Raiders, Grandma Lures, Jake Baits)

Leader: 2-4 feet

Material: Heavy fluorocarbon

Why? A long leader prevents spooking fish and absorbs shock from high-speed strikes.

Open-Water Trolling (Clear Water)

Leader: 48-72”

Material: Fluorocarbon

Why? Longer leaders keep the mainline farther from the lure for a stealthy presentation.

 Structure-Oriented Trolling (Rocks, Logs, Weeds)

Leader: 24-36”

Material: Heavy Florocarbon

Why? A shorter leader helps avoid hang-ups while protecting against abrasions.

Other Considerations
