Cole from Angling Sports coming at you again. We're doing another top three staff picks today. Different species. We're going to talk about crappie. We have lots of ponds, bays off of Lake Erie and whatnot around us that have good crappie fishing through the ice.
Mitchell's Bay is really good for it too. So we're gonna pick our top 3 crappie baits ice fishing.
Number 1, we're going to go with smaller, more compact blade baits, style baits, Johnson or Berkeley ThinFishers, Jackall Keeburns, you name it. Prefer the smaller sizes, kinda goofier colours. It's got a tight vibration, drops quick, so you can keep it in the strike zone, catch them good.
Number 2 is going to be the Compac Clacker Spoons. These things are dynamite, got a good wobble to them, nice flutter. It's a different look if they don't want something that's dropping super fast, and it's a smaller, more compact profile, that they can get in their mouth.
And the third one that's a sleeper, most guys fish these in open water, but they do work very well through the ice, is any kind of hair or marabou jigs. Hair has really good action in cold water. And when they don't want something as obnoxious as a blade or a spoon, something a little more subtle like the slab daddies or the sausage spins from Strike King can be the ticket to getting the job done.
Appreciate it, guys. Come check them out in store or online.
